Legislation surrounding local government demands that we appoint strictly on merit through competitive interview. Our equalities policy requires that all posts are advertised externally. This means that we are unable to accept CVs or undertake ad hoc interviews and discussions, or keep lists of potential candidates for permanent posts.
In order to short-list applicants fairly, even for temporary and casual posts, standard application forms are used so that each applicant is enabled to provide the same information about themselves in exactly the same format. The application forms are presented anonymously to the short-listing panel who do not have access to any of the personal information that letters, CVs and / or emails normally contain to avoid any chance of bias.
Anyone is more than welcome to apply for any positions to which they believe they fulfil the criteria contained in the person specification, in the knowledge that their application will be treated with the utmost fairness and confidentiality.
