Purchasing Director
Salary: 50k - 70k plus Company Car/Allowance, Health Insurance.
Location: Fareham, Hampshire, South England
Responsible to: GENERAL MANAGER
Responsible for: MATERIALS CONTROL MANAGER, PURCHASING MANAGER, SOP/MPS MANAGER, ADMINISTRATOR
Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role
1.To be responsible for managing all aspects of the supply chain function to achieve agreed Company objectives.
2.To work closely with and actively contribute to the overall success of the senior manufacturing management team.
Key duties:
1.Provide inspirational leadership with clear focus and direction to the Supply Chain Department to ensure contribution to the achievement of agreed Company objectives is maximised.
2.To take full ownership and maximise the contribution of all resources (people and equipment) allocated to the Department.
3.To implement robust corrective action plans that identify the root cause of a problem then fix and eliminate recurrence.
4.To represent Supply Chain at design review meetings to influence decisions taken in respect of materials.
5.To manage the day-to-day HR issues and maintain a high level of discipline and good employee relations by a firm but consistent application of Company policies and procedures.
6.To encourage the continuous development of all members of the Department and ensure that PDRs are carried out in a timely manner.
7.To ensure the Department is focussed on 100% on-time delivery of materials and 95% availability of material infeed to the shop floor.
8.To ensure that best practice materials management processes such as direct line feed and Kanban and developed and maintained.
9.To lead appropriate supplier development programmes.
10.To ensure the maintenance of a robust and effective sales and operations planning process that incorporates schedule smoothing and eliminates 'dog-leg' sales achievement.
11.As manager responsible for the MPS, to co-ordinate the generation of a monthly sales forecast agreed with all manufacturing managers and ensure the resulting output plan is updated by SOP/MPS team as products are IR'd.
You will have experience in the following:
Workload and priorities
-Experience of running a purchasing function with expenditure in excess of £15 million per annum
-Experience of running a materials function within a supply chain.
-Experience of sales and operations planning
-Experience of sales order processing
-Experience of supply chain development
-Experience of providing material cost estimates
-Able to demonstrate an understanding of priorities and manage work in accordance with this.
-The ability to recognise and manage changing priorities.
-Able to demonstrate progress through supply chain management.
-Thorough comprehension of MRP I & MRPII systems environments and how to optimise the systems to suit differing business models
Judgement
-Able to make judgements about the materials flow and able to solve problems
-Experience of giving advice to the members of a team on a range of supply chain issues
All applicants MUST be:
Qualified to Degree Level in business studies or a suitable engineering discipline plus 5 years experience in a managerial role in a supply chain environment
OR
Ten years practical supply chain experience gained in a progressive, modern environment, with five years experience at managerial level.
Ideally you will also have Experience of the aerospace industry and experience of safety critical manufacturing.
