Leading technology organisation are looking for an experienced Principal Mechanical Development Engineer to join their expanding team in Hampshire.

This role is to be part of a multi-skilled mechanical development team which designs, develops and supports electromechanical test equipment. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and competent mechanical design engineer ideally with analytical skills in FEA.

The position available is lead engineer of new equipment products and will also involve coordination of a small team. This is an exciting challenge for an ambitious and capable professional Mechanical Engineer who is looking to apply their existing skills in full and to develop further career opportunities in the future. Candidates must be prepared to travel abroad and work extended hours if/when required. Travel is likely to be 2 or 3 times a year for a week or two weeks at a time.

Applicants should have Solidworks 3D CAD modelling system (or equivalent!) experience and hold a degree or HND in mechanical engineering with extensive background within mechanical/electromechanical design and development. Other essential skills include experience in the design of mechanical structures; application of FMEA; application of DFMA and a good knowledge of FEA.

Desirable skills would include understanding of vibration and dynamics; product reliability and performance testing; manufacturing methods and process design; experience in automation systems and knowledge of CFD and thermal engineering.

This is a fantastic opportunity and will be looking at a salary from £38-43k + benefits.
