Job Description

Test Development Engineer - JTAG/ICT

This company design, develop and build the most technologically advanced video conferencing infrastructure equipment available on the market today. Within the hardware team, the development group includes its own expertise in hardware design, PCB layout, approvals and mechanical design. They are now looking to extend their capabilities in the area of ICT and JTAG test development.

This position is to work within the hardware development group but you will have a particular responsibility for enhancing the production JTAG and ICT testing and to bring manufacturing test knowledge in-house.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • JTAG development to enhance coverage, efficiency and portability
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Test team to improve efficiencies and coverage of overall test
  • Specification, design and implementation of new products, in particular design for test
  • Review requirements and specifications with Manufacturing team and Manufacturers
  • Opportunity to become involved in hardware and mechanical design if desired and when time permits

Experienced Test Development Engineers should possess a degree (typically 2.1 or 1st class) supported by good A level grades (in the main A and B grades). Those educated outside the UK need to have achieved the same standard.

We are looking for an individual who is able to learn very quickly "on the job" and enjoys the challenge of rapidly assimilating new technologies and products. This company places a strong emphasis on individual ability and creativity as well as teamwork. In addition to the above academic background candidates should offer:

  • Strong JTAG skills
  • Good understanding of other test technologies such as ICT and AOI
  • Demonstrated background in hardware test development
  • Familiarity with manufacturing requirements
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
